Welcome to St. Paul Parish

St. Paul Parish was formed in 1910 and is the mother church of Weirton, West Virginia. Our current parish community includes downtown, Marland Heights, western sections of Weirton Heights, King’s Creek and Weircrest.

We have lived the Catholic faith through the high immigration years when many came to live among us. We professed that same faith during the wartime and after steel-making boom years. We hold tight to that faith as industry closed and many of our children moved away. We will continue to be a beacon of hope in this city.

We welcome all to visit with us, to celebrate God's love and to live as people of faith and hope in this time and place.

This Week at St. Pauls

As the New Year of 2010 begins, we welcome you to worship with our community.  We enter this year asking for God's gift of peace.  We ask that nations of the world, including our own, learn new ways of coping with conflict and division in place of warfare.  May this year increase our solidarity with the hurting and suffering of our world so we can know the oneness God intends for our human community.

This bas relief is featured on the front of St. Paul Church. The feathered quill pen represents Paul’s writings; the traditional sword a reference to his statement “the Word of God is sharper than a two-edged sword; the sail boat and waves refer to his many journeys; the chains to his imprisonment and his statement that the Word of God cannot be chained; the crown to his words that he “run the race, fought the good fight and God has a merited crown reserved for me.”
